Paul is the prosecuting attorney, and as such, he has read the indictment against a sinful world. The primary charge is that they have forsaken God, their creator. As a result, God has forsaken them to their sins. This has resulted in a terrible spiral downward into an abyss of darkness which incurrs the wrath of God expressed against them and their actions.

Now, in chapter two, Paul responds to two separate groups in the prisoner's dock. One group is made up of Gentile moralists. Their defense attorney protests that he and his group is righteous since they are against evil and evil doers, so much so, that they teach against wrong doing while upholding right principles. Paul clearly points out that their supposed morality is null and void, as the things that they see wrong in others, they too practice. They are like doctors who can correctly diagnosis small pox, but have the disease themselves. Not only can they not cure it, their infected persons are actually spreading it!

The next group trying to defend themselves against the piercing thrust of the sword of truth as wielded by Paul, are the Jewish religionists. Their chief defense is that they are blood descendants of Abraham and stewards of the Word of God handed down to them by their spiritual hero, Moses. Paul is very familiar with their false presumptions to special standing with God outside of Christ. Their position against the truth of God is the same sinking sand that Paul once blindly planted his own feet in!

Paul reveals that the Jewish religionist is in much the same position of the Gentile moralist, in that he condemns others for what he himself practices. Only he is worse off than the moralists, because he has taken the physical possession of the Word of God and the wonderful spiritual heritage handed down from his forefathers as a justification for living a proud, sinful life! Paul acknowledges that it is indeed a great privilege to have God's Word, but it also brings a great responsibility! The law is useless to those who do not obey it and it also makes the disobedient one who has it doubly culpable. Jesus taught that the servant who knew his Master's will and did not obey it would be punished much more severely than those who disobeyed unknowingly.

And, Paul adds, if a man (Gentile) obeys the law ignorantly, his ignorant obedience will add condemnation to you Jewish religionists' willful disobedience!

Perhaps the picture before us is of all humanity hearing the awful indictment against them read by Paul, the Apostle of the Lord Jesus Christ. The great mass of people are silent, knowing they are guilty before God. Paul has just prevailed with the word of truth; the moralist's protests have been silenced by the evidence. The Jewish religious leaders reluctantly find their place in this great company of silent sinners as they stand amid the useless rubble of their noble heritage. Chapter three will have a great summing up of the charges against humanity by the Master's attorney, Paul.
Is there any hope for them …for us? Let's keep reading Romans!

Interview With A Fetus

Please share what you thought of this interview from heaven, if you haven't read it yet please go to http://obne.org/ and look under interviews, then come back and share your thoughts.

The De Vinci Code and The Gospel of Judas vs. Scriptures?

Are The Da Vinci Code novel and the Gospel of Judas serious challenges to the accuracy of Scripture? Consider whether the two ( the novel claims some "facts") substantiate each other in any factual way. Shouldn't one expect some compatibility beyond that of a similar dubious motivation? If there is none, than it seems at least one document must be found to be false by default.

There is textual agreement between the manuscripts of both the New and Old Testaments. For instance, the New Testament never clashes with the yet unfulfilled prophecies of the Old regarding the future of Israel. Similarly, the Old Testament requirements for the Messiah are perfectly mirrored in the New Testament writings describing Christ.

Such inner symmetry was one of the parameters used for compiling the New Testament. Although bogus writings abounded, the Apostles and their contemporaries knew the difference, knowing the doctrine of Christ. Error can be avoided today by using the same system.

Both the Da Vinci Code and The Gospel of Judas are refuted by a statement of Christ.
He said, "In secret have I said nothing". No code, no secret conversation with Judas.
Hopefully, honest people will investigate the Bible for themselves.

Romans Chapter 1

Please feel free to share what you got out of the chapter. it starts with a greeting, then Paul say's how he longs to visit the Romans, then wham he starts in swinging. I like the way Paul writes, he doesn't mess around he just tells it like it is. I keyed in on the third section of the chapter. As I was reading I started to think about how things are right now. Just the other day some colleagues of mine were debating over a conversation about a girl(17) who wanted to live with her boyfriend to finish school because her dad was moving to the southern part of the state to start a new job. And he was considering letting her. I really could not believe the way the conversation was going. It didn't seem that anyone really understood the real problem. One girl said she didn't think it was a big deal at all and that another woman, who opposed, was just old fashioned. The one who opposed didn't really have a good reason either, just that she thought the girl was too young. True enough but I as a thirty year old guess I must be really old fashioned because I don't think any one of them realized how a seventeen year old girl is just asking to be used and abused by this guy. I was sad that her dad would just let some guy have his daughter like that and felt that there relationship must be just empty. I felt bad for the dad, but ever more so for the daughter. Its really too bad that we live in a society the has no value for morals. Having said all that I realized as I was reading the third section of the chapter that this is all a part of Gods plan. He knew from before we were created that we were going to fail, and fail bad. I love to hear people say that the scriptures are out dated and of no use in a modern world. Then I read a chapter like this and realize just how important the scriptures are today as they were when they were written. I pray for these people and love them a lot. I hope they too see value in my stand against living together before marriage. Again please feel free to share your thoughts

Welcome

Welcome to “The OB Blog”. I hope this blog will encourage you and I hope you will participate. This blog is intended for the sharing of what God is doing in the world and how it is impacting people. I hope to hear from missionaries in the field and from those who would like to become missionaries. I remember a pastor saying once - when he was told by an individual the he didn’t feel called to be a missionary – “I don’t see how we fell we need to be called to be a missionary, Jesus didn’t say therefore go, if you feel called…, no in fact he said “there for go and make disciples of all nations…” you see you don’t need a calling to follow a direct command from Jesus. “ I fully agree with this statement and pray that you to will see that all who call Jesus Lord and Savior have a responsibility to share to gospel. Moreover I pray that you will feel encouraged to share the good new of Jesus freely with those who are close to you. You see I believe that hell exists and I am not willing to give up on anyone I can lead to Christ. But remember it is neither you nor I who save, nor does God need us. Rather we are given grace to know Him and only God has revealed Himself to us by His Grace. Thank you Lord Jesus. Remember when Christ asked His disciples who He was, when they replied they said some say this and some say that, but Christ asked them “who do you say I am” and Peter replied “you are the Christ…” and Jesus told them that only God has revealed that to them. I say all this to remind you that only God knows the heart of man, and that even if you share with someone the good news and they pass it off like an old stinky gym sock. Don’t get discouraged, you may have planted a seed and never get to see it begin to sprout. But if God is willing that person will run into another Christian and BAM just like that they are ready. You may be the person they run into, be ready to share with anyone and God will use you if you let Him. I will end with that, please respond with your thoughts and let all know haw God is working in you life or in your ministry. If you are looking for support please contact us via the contact page at http://obne.org/ we are always looking for new missionaries to support.

God Bless
Randy
